“Leadership comes with a microphone.” – Jeff Henderson
If you are a pastor, business leader, coach or anyone in a leadership role, you will eventually have to cast vision to your people.  This is because the time will one day come when you must stand in front of your team and say, “This is where we are going.  Are you with me?  Let’s go!”
The best public speaking coach I know is Jeff Henderson, Lead Pastor of Gwinnett Church and co-founder of Preaching Rocket.  In preparation for an upcoming free online conference he is hosting called Preach Better Sermons, Jeff did a session on effective vision casting.  I recommend anyone who speaks for a living to sign up for this conference which will take place Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 PM EST event.  It will make you a better preacher and speaker.
To give you a taste of what you will learn, the following are 26 Tips from Jeff’s session For Pastors And Business Leaders On Becoming A Better Vision Caster.
  1. When there is no vision the people argue about the color of the carpet in the church.
  2. Vision is a picture of the future that produces passion in you or your team.
  3. How often should you cast vision for your church?  Everyday.
  4. It is much more difficult to cast vision than you think.
  5. A compelling vision solves a problem.
  6. One thing about vision is it has to be repeatable.
  7. Just when you (feel you) have said it (the vision) enough is when it is starting to register (in your people).

  9. The goal of our church should be the mayor of our city comes to us and says, “Don’t close the doors to your church.”
  10. What do I want them (the people) to do?  You have to be really specific about this.
  11. If you don’t have enough money and you don’t have enough volunteers that means your vision is outpacing your resources and that is a really good thing.
  12. Reward the behavior you want repeated.
  13. When you combine gratitude with vision casting that is powerful.
  14. As a lead pastor you need to be collecting stories on a regular basis.
  15. If there are no stories of wins that’s an issue…The warning light on your leadership dashboard should be blinking.
  16. The way you multiply your vision is to get more people talking about it.  If you’re the only one talking about it, there is a lid.
  17. What did you do today to build your business?  What did I do today to cast vision?
  18. Start where you are.  The role of any leader is to define current reality.
  19. Great marketing starts with little money.  The more money you have you get lazy.
  20. Be a social media guru.
  21. I’m not that great of an artist but I’m like a bee.  I drop vision wherever I go. – Walt Disney
  22. How many great sermons can you cast in a year?
  23. Think of your sermon as being put in a crockpot, not a microwave.
