John Maxwell once taught me a key leadership lesson. He would say and I’m paraphrasing, “If on a scale from 1-10 you are a 2 in a certain area, and you work really, really hard, you may improve to a 4. You are still bad and not helping anyone. But if you are an 8 and improve to a 9, you have helped yourself and your organization immensely.”
